When you think of Las Vegas, you probably think neon, casinos, cocktails and extreme hedonism – not really the place for outdoor adventure travel?
The theme of my year so far seems to have been about being harnessed into something extreme a lot of the time (and I’m not talking about Fifty Shades of Grey!). So I when I came across the Skyjump at the Stratosphere, I decided that North America’s highest Skyjump was worth a try…
Believe it or not I’m not so fond of heights. For anyone else out there who isn’t and would like to give something like this a go, the thing that separates a Skyjump off a tower from a bungy jump is that the fall speed is controlled. This was a 45mph fall whereas a bungy jump is a free-fall at speeds dependent on your body weight.
Skyjump is available in a few different locations worldwide, including Auckland in my native country, New Zealand where it originated.
Do you have any experiences or suggested activities for outdoor adventure travel in Las Vegas? Please comment below.

Thanks Kandi, Lol
I’m actually not so big on heights, but once you get off the edge the fall is so much fun!
Holy Mackeral Kate…. YOU ARE ALL IN FOR SURE! You must have a big pair of brass you-know-whats!
My stomach was getting ‘kollywobbles’ just watching you getting hooked up.
You ROCK Kate!
Good Job!
Kandi
Eco Straw house!
Thanks Sarah! It’s one of those activities that you work out just how much fun it is once you step off the edge…I wanted to go again right after! Skydive over Grand Canyon is a great idea, will look into that for another time.
Wow – that looked like so much fun. Well done, you were certainly ‘all in’
Perhaps a sky-dive over the Grand Canyon next time?
